Still looking for more new music, so please keep the suggestions coming. One of my latest pics is a band called The Fray. I cam across a site that is focused on one of the hottest items today, ringtones. If you don’t know what ringtones are, then I am afraid you are living in a closet. My mother-in-law has a ringtone that she has purchased on her mobile phone…that is when I knew that the technology was mainstream. Anyway, I just put a really cool Thhe Fray ringtones on my Cingular 2125 and it is really cool…especially since it was free. Yippeeee.

I guess too much money is never enough. Apparently Paul and the boys are going after Apple computer for, “using the Apple name and logot to sell music downloads.” Will be interesting to see how this works out.
Apple Corps, owned by Beatles Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono and the estate of George Harrison, have accused Apple Computer of violating a 1991 agreement by using the Apple name and logo to sell Music downloads through its market-leading iTunes Music Store.

I remember the days of playing the piano. Well, I took lessons for I don’t know how long, but it was too long. I had no love for the piano, but my mother did. Eventually, we convinced her to start taking lessons and that was our ticket out. But, all of those hours of practice were not lost. I did use my sheet music reading ability later when I had the chance to start playing my instrument of choice, the drums. Yes, drummers can read sheet music too people. I know it might be hard to believe, but there is a lot to know about music when it comes to playing the drums. Needless to say it was a little too much for me to handle as well as my neighbors. So, I will have to take up the drums when I get that ranch out in the middle of nowhere.

Looking for something different? How about some Baroque music from old world Italy? That is what you will get at the Miami Bach Society’s
12 day concert series which will be spotlighting music from the 1800s. I just need to find some time and a couple of plane tickets to and from Miami.
In the span of 12 days, the Miami Bach Society will host a series of concerts spotlighting music from the 1800s and earlier during its annual Tropical Baroque Music Festival. The theme for this year’s event is Old Music in the New World

The Orchard is a music distributor that is trying to change the way a lot of people buy music, or at least make a few bucks at the end of the day. Traditional music distribution is centered around selling thousands, if not millions, of copies of a particular album. The Orchard is taking the “Long Tail” approach by attempting to aggregate the relatively small number of sales of thousands of albums. Greg Scholl, CEO of The Orchard says it best:
“We’re not trying to make something a hit in order to make a buxiness work. We cast a very wide net, and we’re going to catch some hits in it.”
Interesting concept and I don’t think they are the first to try it. But, as with most things business related, timing is everything.

Akon, the Sengalese (sp?) artist is making some waves here and abroad. I was reading about Akon and apparently he is getting some recognition abroad as well as here in the states. So, being the hipster that I am, I decided to throw an Akon ringtone on my Nokia. I got that Belly Dancer song on there. It is pretty dope I think. I really think though that this whole ringtone thing can be very addictive.

Just noticed that Chris Brown is topping this weeks charts with his single Run It!. And, there is a little secret for all of the Chris Brown fans in New York, he will be doing a special benefit for the first 500 customers who buy his new, self-titled, album at the Times Square Virgin Megastore (opens at 9am). The first 500 people who buy his album will get a wristband to attend a “meet and greet” with the R&B artist. Ladies?
UPDATE:
Just came across a cool Chris Brown lyrics site. I think they have all of the lyrics from his debut album, Chris Brown.

I was looking to spruce up my desktop a little bit and I figured there was no better way to do it than with a picture of some hot musician. So, keeping it real, I found a cool Ciara wallpaper site around the corner and downloaded it. It is really easy to download images off of the web and set them to display as the wallpaper on your computer’s desktop. You simply right click on the image and select “Set as Wallpaper”. Boom, the next thing you know, your desktop is blowin’ up yo.

Did anyone know that Jaime Foxx can sing? And, not only that, the guy has an album out right now. Who knew? Not me. I have to say that the movie Ray, about musical legend Ray Charles (FYI), was by far Jaime Foxx’s best role…which is not saying much. But he was amazing in the movie, which is saying a lot. I need to find out if he was actually singing on any of the tracks on the soundtrack as I am sure he was.
